On Tuesday 14 February 2023, at 6.35 pm, a Boeing 777-3F2(ER) of Turkish Airlines carried some 15 tonnes of emergency material, equipment and donations collected by Swiss, Turkish and Turkish-Swiss associations in French-speaking Switzerland to help the victims of the earthquake that occurred on 6 February in Turkey and Syria.
The generosity of the population following this tragedy was so great that not all the material could be loaded on Tuesday's flight. Other transport operations with the support of the Turkish airline could be repeated soon.
Thanks to the mobilisation of many actors, Genève Aéroport is delighted that such an operation could be organised from Cointrin to help populations in great difficulty. In addition to providing premises to concentrate all the aid, Geneva Airport is exempting the airline from the usual landing fees for this flight.
New flight on Saturday 18 February
A second flight, this time operated by a Turkish Airlines A330 freighter, is scheduled for Saturday morning.
