Terminal Opening Hours
For security reasons, Terminal 1 is closed in the morning from 00:00 to 04:00.
The access road to the French sector (customs road) is closed 1 hour after the last flight (around 00:30) until 04:00.
No-one is allowed to remain inside the terminal when it is closed.
Check-in the day before
To know if you can do the check-in of your bagagges the day before, please consult the airlines summary table (pdf 0.1 MB).
If you checked your bags in the day before, we recommend that you make your way to the airport one hour before your flight departs (two hours during weekends) to complete passport control formalities, go through the security check and make your way to the departure lounge.

Check-in at the airport: same day
All checking in for scheduled flights – including low-cost flights – takes place in T1 (Main Terminal / Terminal principal / Terminal "M").
Deadline for check-in
The deadline for the check-in varies depending on the airlines. As a general rule, it is recommended that passengers present themselves for check in
- in general : 2 hours before the flight leaves
- during winter weekends ( Friday to Sunday from December to April ) : 3 hours before the flight leaves
Deadline for boarding gate
As a general rule, it is recommended that passengers present themselves at the boarding gate 30 minutes before the flight leaves.
Please confirm this information directly with your airline.
Only passengers or close relatives (with the same surname, and with an identity document) may check in baggage. They must present themselves at check in with all the travel documents of the persons concerned.
Check-in Express at the kiosks
Genève Aéroport makes your life easier... with its "Express Check-in" kiosks, simple and fast!
Passengers can check in with their luggage at any kiosks located in the main terminal.

"Self bag drop" quick hold baggage drop-off
Lufthansa, Brussels Airlines, LOT Polish Airlines, TAP Portugal offer some passengers the possibility of a quick hold baggage drop-off service, at counters 77-78-79-80-81-82.
The passengers concerned are those:
- with no excess baggage, and no oversize or special baggage;
- with a confirmed flight from Geneva (LH, SN, LO, TP);
- who have already checked in on-line or at one of the kiosks.
Internet check-in
Some airlines offer the possibility of checking in via the internet. This means you check in on line, select your seat and print your boarding card before coming to the airport.

NB: This service may be different, depending on each airline and each type of ticket. It is usually available only for electronic tickets.

- with a confirmed flight from Geneva (LX, LH, OS, SN, LO, TP);
- who have already checked in on-line or at one of the kiosks.
Check-in at the rail station
The day before of your flight, do the check-in of your luggage at the station quietly. You will receive there also your chart of loading for the place of your choice on the aircraft. Thus, the day of the departure, you have more time and begin your travel in all peace, without having to wait check-in and without having to carry your luggage.
Unusual luggage items
To check in unusual luggage items, please first check in at the same counter as for normal luggage, and then go to counter no. 90.
The maximum dimensions for unusual luggage items are: approx. 100 cm x 80 cm x 400 cm.
